Definitely not a vacation

Dale and I went to Cherokee on Monday to the casino resort there in western NC.
The whole trip was pretty close to a nightmare. First of all the car rental company messed up our reservation so we didn't have a good car. Then the traffic was horrendous.
We stopped for lunch at a restaurant we loved which was about four hours away, but it was awful.
The only good part was a museum that had a P3 plane like Dale flew in the Navy. He enjoyed that, but it was SO HOT!
The whole trip took 7 hours. We spent one night on the way, but neither of us sleeps well in a hotel.
The resort was nice, but the casino was huge! That night we got lost trying to get back to the hotel lobby.
It was honestly like a nightmare where you can't find your way or anyone to help.
Oh yeah, there was a terrible storm that knocked out power and half of the elevators didn't work. We finally got a hotel shuttle van that rode us back to our lobby.
We were so exhausted. I still didn't feel my best from this UTI and there wasn't anyplace to eat breakfast the next morning. You had to get a shuttle to get to the buffet, which we didn't want to do in the rain.
Everything considered, this was not at all a good vacation.
It's so good to be home.

I’ve seen that casino at Cherokee. It’s gigantic. It’s easy to get lost in a huge place like that. (Maybe they want you to get lost so you’ll go back to the casino and spend money.
)
Sorry it was a rotten time all the way around.

We've had way too much rain, especially for the garden. Are you all getting storms?

@1creekgirl Good! The rash is almost gone and very little itching left. I will see an allegry/asthma specialist toward the end of June.

I think it had one in the second tower, but we didn't want to get a shuttle in the rain.

That's funny. The best part of ours was seeing the P3 plane like Dale flew on in the Navy.

It's really nice to be home.
Our garden was going well, but all this rain has ruined a lot of it. The potatoes Dale dug are rotting even after digging them and the tomatoes are mushy. The squash did well and so far so good with the okra.

@1creekgirl Sorry about your garden. It's really dry here. Eva has been getting more rain than me. It's been staying south of us.

Sounds horrible. Maybe when the leaves change I will try to get Dow n to the Smokes. Thus would not have been a good week for a vacation.

@1creekgirl Unfortunately, it is. At the same time, moments like this will help you to appreciate the next trip even more. Even if it's only half good, it will be 100% better than the last one.
