Need Some Help

About a week ago I started feeling weak, and I thought, oh great, I’m getting wimpier. By Monday, I was asking my dad to bring me some medication I couldn’t drive to get. Let’s fast forward to Thursday when I went to my doctor. I had to hold on to the wall to keep from falling, had low blood pressure, and apparently looked so white I scared them. Tested negative for Covid, but had a mild UTI (I had no pain whatsoever). I am now taking an antibiotic for it. My doctor banned me from driving, and asked me to let him call me an ambulance to take me to the ER, but I said no. Eventually, my dad picked me up and took me home.
The next few days I had some dear Mylotters get firm and tell me to go to the ER. By Saturday, I listened. They wheeled me in, did bloodwork, chest X-ray (for the shortness of breath), and after a few hours said my magnesium was low. It should be 1.9, but it was 1.1. So they gave me a bag of magnesium in my IV, and my dad took me home.
Only it’s Sunday afternoon, and I still can’t get to the bathroom to the couch without being out of breath. I can’t stand long at all. And my cruise is September 19th; I do not want to mess this up. Is that the most important thing right now? No, and I realize that.
I’m taking vitamins, I’ve always guzzled water, but I’m guzzling more. If I’m not better tomorrow I’m calling my doctor, and if he says ER, you can bet I’m going.
Please pray, and give me any ideas how to feel better.
Update: I went back to the ER, just got back (yesterday and today had no one waiting AT ALL). They said it takes 48 hours for the magnesium to fully kick in. To call my doctor tomorrow, but if I’m not significantly better I will be going back. I did walk to the bathroom to my room with no help (just with a nurse hovering). That’s progress. I mean, before that, I was walking two feet before I had to grab something. This is an improvement.

You know what I think. But to reiterate, call your dad or the ambulance. Go today. You seem very weak and I don’t think you want to end up on the floor, Amber!! You should not be alone! This is more than a lack of Magnesium!!
I have discovered in the last several years that sometimes a person has to be insistent. Six weeks ago, my son was in a similar condition. Well, you know how it’s been with him, I don’t have to explain it.we went to the ER, he got a doctor that actually listened, and I flatly said he could not go back home in that condition. And he couldn’t! The doctor agreed and admitted him.
That trip isn’t going to be possible for you if you are in this condition, and your Dad won’t leave you alone,so he won’t go on the trip, either. In plain and simple words, get your sweet self to the hospital, TODAY!!! Please go. A lot of people are very concerned about you!!
Big hugs and prayers!!

@snowy22315 I woke up extra tired one day, and by the next day I had to hold on to the wall.

I think I agree with Marie. It is better to be safe than sorry, and you are not really improving. Even if they have to admit you to the hospital it is better than not being in the proper condition for the cruise. God Bless! When it started, Did you just wake up feeling this way, or what there some kind of precipitating factor you can point to?

I am so sorry that you are so terribly unwell Amber.
If your Dad could possibly swing by and take you back to the hospital today, and they could conduct further testing, that would be much better. It just seems like something else is going on.
I will pray for a diagnosis for you-please keep us updated.

You'll have to call the emergency number for you doctor tomorrow. Most doctors don't work on Labor Day.
What have you been eating? Are you trying to lose weight or just not hungry? To me, and I'm not a doctor, it sounds like low blood sugar. I have those same symptoms when I first started losing weight. I wasn't eating enough and just drinking water. Try eating something, even if you aren't hungry and see if you feel better.
If you don't feel better by tomorrow, go to the ER again and tell the on-call doctor how you've been feeling, please.

I’ve definitely been eating. I have been trying to lose weight, you’re right, but I’ve been hungrier again, so I’m definitely eating right. It does sound like low blood pressure though, doesn’t it. I used to have that problem a lot when I was a child.
Fortunately, my doctor is working tomorrow. Bless his heart, I think he’s having financial problems.
Thank you for the advice!

@AmbiePam AMber, your health is paramount at this point. Please don't be dieting and trying to lose weight. It isn't really working for you. You need to eat well nutritionally and be in good condition with a doctor's OK to be doing that.

@snowy22315 Mu doctor is really happy with my weight loss, but I’m definitely eating more than I was a few weeks ago. I wasn’t hungry, but I definitely am lately. And I can’t function when I’m hungry.
I do have an update after going to the ER again .They said it could take 48 hours before the full effects of the magnesium are felt, so I should give it more time. They did give me another IV, and maybe I was unbelievably dehydrated because after a little while I did walk to the bathroom from my room and back with no help. That magnesium really might be kicking in.

Guzzling water is good for the UTI, but too much can dilute your electrolytes, I think. Praying for you and trusting that you will be well enough to go on the cruise and use it as a vacation and lots of fun.

What's happening? I hope you are okay, is there something wrong with you, or is it something with what you eat or do? Please be more mindful to do what the doctors tell you to do, and I pray that you will have a full recovery very soon.

Oh poor you …..I remember telling you to see the Dr so I’m pleased that you did. Just keep doing what the medical staff tell you and I’m sure you will still be able to go on your cruise. It is something to aim for ….please take care.

Sorry you are going through that....sounds scary. Hopefully they can figure it out soon. I remember feeling weak and out of breath a couple years ago and went to the ER with DKA...but besides that I don't know what else would explain feeling that way....just was saying I know how awful that feeling is...so hope they can help you this time

First of all, never self-medicate and the first thing you have to do is do everything to the letter. Material things can always wait or be postponed, but health is something that takes its toll. And the bill is very expensive so consider that because all your friends want to see you well if you already feel better that's okay

@AmbiePam Yes, I understand that you didn't self-medicate, rather it was like advice that you never do it as a preventative measure. You know, sometimes we are so anxious to get over an illness that anything seems like a possibility. A miraculous pharmaceutical response, sometimes I even do it for a headache or something like that, but it's not recommended. Be patient.
