Donating

I came across some items I can donate to a food bank, and I got really excited. It’s all food I had gotten for free to review, but didn’t eat it all. You may be like, well, shouldn’t you keep it? Well, I’ll keep the cans of cinnamon pears, but the soup I can’t because I’m allergic to something in it. Meanwhile, I have tons of chicken jerky that was sent, too.
I’ve read from several people here they plan to donate food and/or money to a food bank right now considering the state of food benefits for those who need them (including a TSA agent who is currently working for free and has three kids at home/or the preschool teacher who has custody of her nephew…).
Are you donating?

I donate when someone really needs help. But this doesn't happen often. i have lots of clothes I don't wear anymore but can't find where I can donate the clothes.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX That is so awesome. I know you don’t do it for thanks, but I really believe you’ll be blessed by all that.

I do donate. We also usually have a food drive at school for the food bank. In the Head Start part of the school our family advocate has "connections" to get penny day bargains from a certain store and she does that and gives the food to families.

Oh yes, we'll definitely be donating - either with food or money. A thrift shop I go to provides meals to those in need - they fundraise specifically for Thanksgiving and Christmas too. I've never really "paid it forward" - but I plan to do that at certain food stores . . . I almost had an opportunity to help someone who was short $6 on their final bill, but they were able to find $ before I offered.

We already dropped off a box of canned soups/veggies/fruit as well as a box of dried pasta of different types and a large box of dried milk.
Pretty also collected several items that the food bank won't accept because we opened the main box of the items but individual boxes/cans haven't been opened. We'll take those items (they're still sealed) to an individual drop-off box by the park just up the street. Anybody can add things to that drop-off or take them if they want them. (We tried the items and didn't like them but they are popular items so someone will take them, I'm sure.)

Yes I'm planning on donating. Our local boy scouts are collecting and I'll have some stuff ready on the day they'll be here.

I get a lot of freebies too and even if I can’t use them I always accept them….then either give to family and friends , or donate to the food bank.

That’s great! I usually give my free stuff away to my friends, but with things how they are in the United States right now I’m focusing on giving the food items to people who truly need it. I didn’t know it, but our church had a food drive, and gave away 158 bags of food on Saturday. I wish I had known and I could have donated then!

I have given most of my extra food to cousin #2. I will most likely make a monetary donation.

@AmbiePam She "shops" every time she comes over. There are a lot of things I can no longer eat with this kidney disease; and I have no one to cook up a lot of the frozen meat that I have; so she takes some of that too.

Time counts too. I do the occasional shift at a charity shop when they’re short-staffed. Even two hours helps them sort donations and get stock on the floor.

We may soon, we do not have much but think sister founds some things we will not eat from rearranging kitchen. They say food banks struggling because of government shutdown.
Not trying to get political but its such a shame so many have so much and they like who cares does not effect us. Yet your dumb decisions effect so many because you a spoiled brat.

I shared some of my fresh, and very tasty, tomatoes with 2 people that needed food and wanted some. Somehow, I also had two cans of jalopeno peppers, and I am highly allergic to them. When my daughter was here in the summer, we cooked a lot for the crew. She gave me a small box of non perishables she didn't want in the car on the way home, and I forgot to pass them on. So I do know they will get donated this week. Also, I have some unopened, not out of date cereal and it's going out the door, too. I may find more that we can't eat and that someone else will use, I am going to check again to be sure.
