What do you after vacation?

So I woke up this morning, and took my medicine, checked Mylot (wrote a discussion), and then went back to sleep before church. Only to wake up at 11:27am. So with the exception of thirty minutes, I slept twelve hours. I sure didn’t mean to! I really wanted to go, but oh well. I really needed the sleep after getting up at 2:30am yesterday (my sister wanted to leave early so we left at 4am). What do you generally do right after vacation?

Think back to whenever your last one was. Before this one, I hadn’t had one in more than a decade, I think.

@AmbiePam I've never had a "real" vacation, just visits to family.

@BarBaraPrz Oh, well, if you could go anywhere, where would you choose for a vacation?

I was very happy to get my Sadie back last night. I heard scratching in front door, opened it, and here came Sadie! Thirty seconds later my friend came GOLO her with Frosty, her dog. I’ll show you what Frosty did when she got in my apartment… lol She likes the back of my couch!

When we came back from the US, often I overslept in the morning because I needed to re-adjust my internal clock to the big difference in time.

@AmbiePam - It was really hard, we were never ready to go to sleep but it was very hard to get up in the morning.

Just like you, Pretty and I usually sleep most of a day or two after we get home. Vacations are for running around, having as much fun as possible without getting enough sleep until we get home again. I always scheduled two extra days just for sleep when I got home before going back to work.

I take another vacation day! Basically, a vacation to recover from my vacation.

When I was working, I planned vacation time very carefully, in order to allow myself a day or two to get reaclimated back to the norm, wash clothes, catch up at home, etc. I had a big family, and I had to manage my time very carefully. Always allow yourself a day or two afterwards!

Oh yes, with several kids it sounds like it should be almost mandatory!

On the rare occasions we get more than a weekend off, I find I need a day or two to recover.

Do you miss your own bed? I found, that of the 8 nights I spent in a hotel, I only missed my bed twice. Those two times I had a nice enough bed, but the mattress was no better for my back than my couch had been.

You must have really needed that lovely long sleep. I'm sure you'll be forgiven for missing church. Especially by the One who matters most.

9 times out of 10 I got a cold while on vacation; so when I got home I would rest...and then it was back to work.

That was a good sleep though, wasn’t it? A 12-hour sleep stretch is always my fave. After a vacation, I do all the things I couldn’t do on vacation. Like sleep in my own bed, spend A LOT of time alone without a bunch of people swarming around me, and then I start remembering the hotel room and get all inspired to make my own room look exactly the way the hotel did. I rarely succeed. But it’s still kinda fun. Hope you enjoyed your trip! :)

Unpack everything and put away the suitcases in the closet. Then go through the mail that has accumulated through out the vacation time.

Usually I take my first day back from vacation as an adjustment period to get back into the rhythm of things without having to jump right back into being a busy body. I try to nap as much as my kids will allow me the pleasure of doing so.
