On the Hunt

Last night I got a notification that my Amazon package came. I opened my front door, and nothing! I knew it hadn’t been stolen because the notification had just popped up. So I looked at the picture the driver takes of where he put the package. It showed the package on a cement floor. How helpful! With no apartment number in sight all I have to do is check every apartment in this complex (normally I’d check below my apartment and then give up and notify Amazon; I can’t go to every building). So, I started with the person below me (who sometimes gets my packages despite my instructions to the driver saying TOP floor), and no package was there. Neither was there a package on the doorstep on the person who lived below ground level. So, Sadie and I went on a walk. One breezeway over, and no package on any of the three floors. One more breezeway, and there it was! Ground level (what about TOP does no one understand) in front of an empty apartment with old carpet sitting outside the door. Today was easy. I heard my package was at my front door when the delivery driver threw it while he stood by the stairs. It made a delightful sound sliding down the door. What was the last thing you had to hunt for?

I'm sorry that happens. We don't hunt for anything. If it's not there, Pretty lets Amazon know and we get our money back. Eventually, Amazon will start questioning their driver if that keeps happening. I prefer to go to a store and buy stuff, anyway.

These are things I get for free so I have to have them shipped. Otherwise, I’d be the same way.

@AmbiePam Oh, yeah, I forget you get free stuff in the mail. We always pay for stuff so Amazon cares when they have to refund it.

@DaddyEvil Yeah, Amazon has to refund the sponsor when I don’t get something, but I don’t think that really bothers them. They don’t resend the item though. If the delivery goes to someone else, then I just don’t get it. Which only bothered me once, when a neighbor stole my packages that one time. It had a very nice bracelet I thought I could sell. I don’t ever wear more than earrings, but I thought for sure I could make some money. It was a rare opportunity.

My last three deliveries from Amazon ended up at my neighbor's house. Her house number is one digit different from mine, and I think at this point the Amazon driver is convinced (from making so many deliveries) that her house is MY house. Thankfully, I am good friends with this neighbor, and she always brings the package over to me when she takes her dog for a walk.

@moffittjc That is so cool. My dad’s neighborhood is like that too. I have a couple of solid neighbors who always have an eye out. Unfortunately, I also have a few who would steal the wheels off your grandma’s scooter.

@AmbiePam I've got the best neighbors in the world, which is why I love my neighborhood so much. We all look out for each other.

I'm always hunting for my phone... unless I have pockets I put the darn thing down somewhere, where 9 times out of 10 I don't happen to be when it rings.

Oh, I know. I wish there was a “clapper” I could use to find my phone at times.

That is frustrating. I would let the company know about this. Drivers need to learn to read instructions, so people get their packages. The last thing I lost was my hairclip and that just happened yesterday. I have hunted for it everywhere and still can't find it. Oh, and a ring also that went flying off my finger in my living room yesterday.

I used to get drivers who indicated on the Amazon drop off they handed me the package when they absolutely did not. It made me angry so every time a driver lied and said that, I’d call Amazon, get someone I could barely understand (of course), and tell them their delivery people were lying. They sounded like they took it seriously enough, and since then, no one has ever lied about handing me the package face to face. Occasionally, when I get someone who rings my doorbell like I ask in the delivery instructions, I leave the nicest compliments. I’m like, this person pays attention! Did you find your ring at least?

@AmbiePam There are some good drivers out there. I think they need to reprimanded when they lie and leave packages at other place. I had a medical order that was to be delivered on November 12th. It had to be signed for, It didn't show up and I went to the hospital on November 13th. Three left three notices on my door but also they said they had delivered it. Now how could they deliver it when I was in the hospital for two weeks and there was no one here to sign for it. No, I haven't found either item yet but I'm still looking.

I'm glad you and Sadie found your package even though it wasn't near your door. Guess TOP floor isn't in their vocabulary. You would think they would know where you live by now. The last thing I had to hunt for was my Amazon package that they put on the porch of my next door neighbor, Thankfully we recognized their door mat and didn't have to drive around the neighborhood searching for it. My instructions all say please leave on the bench on the porch. Maybe 1 in 10 times whatever is delivered is on the bench. There was one Walmart delivery that we got and the person piled all the bags right in front of the door so we couldn't open it. (duh). my daughter had to go out through the garage and around the house to move them so we could bring them inside. People are unconscious sometimes

That is insane. I think I remember when they put them directly in front of your door. Because I remember thinking if that had been an apartment you would have been stuck inside. As it is, that’s a huge tripping hazard.

My UPS package a couple of months ago. I was jus at the PO and a lady was complaining her mail was all over the neighborhood and she hadn't gotten her magazine for 4 months.

I think I was hunting for a Yankee Candle order. I found it on the bottom floor by the stairs but I told Yankee Candle that I didn't receive it so they shipped it again. FedEx is the WORST

Amazon seems more reliable here IF they do not use the USPS for delivery. My daughter ordered me some grocery items she found on sale on Amazon. They were delivered by the postal system...and the entire package was absolutely destroyed--completely smashed. She got a refund and had it re-sent. She requested it NOT be sent via postal service, and it actually wasn't. I've not ever had them deliver an Amazon order to me before. Heck, they can't take care of their own stuff, let alone a big dog like Amazon. I am sure sorry you are having so much trouble with deliveries, you surely don't need that hassle.

I hate when Amazon had the post office deliver me things. Hate it. The whole redelivery saga I had last week was because Amazon sent something through USPS. Then, this past Monday, my neighbor knocked on my door. An Amazon delivery had been put in her box instead of mine because USPS delivered it. I’m like people, if I’m using Amazon, that’s who I expect to deliver it! I didn’t even know you could request USPS not be used on an Amazon delivery. I’m glad you got your groceries, finally unharmed!
