We got word today that the interior crew is coming back tomorrow to finish the last details, and the cleaning crew will be here Monday to get everything ready for our walk-through on Tuesday. We can’t move in until final inspections, but after the inspection, we have permission to start storing items inside and have the washer and dryer delivered while waiting. Hallelujah, the end is finally in sight after almost a year! So many people told me they bought a mobile home and were living in it within three days. I had to keep explaining this is a manufactured home built 300 miles away, and that was just the beginning. Permits from several places, inspections, water lines from the mountain, electric company transformer and lines ran up, a new road, blueprints, foundation, brick skirting, a failed perk test, moving the house down to an area the perk passed, and an advanced septic system all added time. Add in different crews on different jobs trying to schedule in-between the major storms that hit us. They were in the city with electric, water, septic etc. already there. I’ve learned to just change the subject when people tell me how it “should have been done.” I’m so excited. I can order my bedroom curtains tonight! I already have a nice pair for the flex/living room, and my son is doing the rest in blinds. After all this time, I should be inside the home within two weeks. How was your day? I took this photo Monday night, trying to capture the Aurora Borealis. It only showed purple and not much. I didn't bother last night.

I enjoyed my day completing surveys and sharing news stories hoping that my area does not get hit by a snowstorm on Saturday.

I hope you don't get hit by the snowstorm. The winter is going by faster to me this year, thankfully.

What works for one person, in one situation, does not work for everyone else, and the know-it-alls should realize this. I am so happy for you that your manufactured home is finally coming together as it should.

Thank you. They finished the inside today. Monday is the cleaning. Tuesday, walk-thru. Then we wait for the final inspections for the permits. I'm excited. Outside still needs finished but he is coming some time next week.

@noni1959 - We donated and sold so much before moving here. I told my husband that we will never again keep so many things.

Me too. I am glad I only own what is in my trailer except for my bed, an antique bird cage and a box of Christmas stuff that is in my son's storage.

I love your photo. I miss standing out on our deck and staring at stars. We're coming up on our fifth Spring here. Times does fly! I can imagine doing what you are doing when I was in my 20s and 30s but not at my age. Now I need the ready water and heat. Five years ago I worried about our pump freezing up and wondering if we'd be scooping water for the toilet and the thirsty animals. I'm done. It was a good time sometimes but I'm done.

@noni1959 FOG. I am grateful we are just a couple of miles from the pool. I have scraped the car's glass twice now when we headed out in the morning. And I said bad things to the drivers who did not have their headlights on. I have to take Beau kitty for his heart procedure in the morning so we will drive to Chehalis in the fog first thing; Back road. No way on fog time on the freeway. You just never know. Five years ago hubby was hale and hearty and could drive fence posts into rocky ground. Now he just makes it to the car and the pool. I'm grateful he is still here and I'm grateful we are where we are.

@sallypup I wish the fog would let up for you. We had rain today after ice this morning. Coming back from Aberdeen on the 101, my ice alert came on. It turned from rain to sleet. I worry on that back road. Many are not careful and there are wrecks often.

Your having close to the same weather as us. I'm enjoying this stretch of no rain, but that also means ice. It's already 29 here on the property and dropping. It's hard for sure. I'll be 67 in May. My body is screaming it's freezing, but I'm also a stubborn cuss that adjusts after a lot of whining. I am fully self-contained, but the dang use of the low boy to empty is getting old. Thankfully, my son has been helping a lot.

I think that down the road a ways time wise you may be thankful for all the inspections, permits, blueprints, etc. I think that the more that goes on now the better you will like it and the less worries later. A couple I watch on YouTube moved into an old house and have been in it less than a year and have already had termites, roofing, chimney, electrical and plumbing issues that are probably running them close to $10,000 if not more already. It's great that you folks started from the ground up. I bet you are excited to get into your new home and start a life there. Aurora Borealis' are so pretty. We had one here in Boise, Idaho one time and it was green and purple. What a sight!

This was bare land with no electric, septic or sewer, and no water. The property closed real fast, almost a year ago. The manufactured house was built fast but had to sit in their storage since it was taking 8 weeks for each permit, blue print (septic system), perk, foundation and each step had to be signed off of too. The electric company had their own they had to do and be signed off as well. The country's permits had to be approved by the Cities and there is only one guy here doing it all for everyone. He is also the water company so that had to be approved for running down the mountain. It was a crazy long time. Plus each step had different crew who had to work together and figure out schedules and a driveway had to be built as well. There was a lot more involved. Thankfully, the house is fine so far and never lived in. Hoping the final permits, bank and house inspections/appraisals go smoothly.

This is such wonderful news, I know you and your son will be so happy to not have to live in the campers. After the cleaning crew come, how long do you have to wait for the inspection? I hope it all goes smoothly and that we’ll, and fast!!

I really pray not a long time. They seem to do a step forward and then crickets. The bank appraiser came this morning to check the house but saw not done so pretty sure he lit a fire because not even 40 minutes later, my son got all the info for completion. Usually, the inspection comes within 72 hours to write off the permits so really hope all goes well. Of course, it is to begin raining again next weekend so clearing the storage will be a no go. Long as we can get our beds in, we'll be happy for now.
