Hey there! What am I doing up this early? My sister-in-law is having surgery today. The bionic woman!
Meanwhile, here is another song from 1976. Yes, kids, that was fifty years ago now. Not only that, it’s one that “everybody” knows! FINALLY, they all say!
Here’s today’s 50-hear-old classic.
Dancing Queen - Abba
That’s right, it’s time to dance and jive, having the time of your lives!
Although Abba was a supergroup in nearly every country in the world, this was their only #1 song in the United States. What were we thinking???
I guess were too busy with dancing queens and kings every other week to be concerned about the wide variety of music that Abba gave the world. Also, they only did one tour of the US, and it was a disaster, so that might have had something to do with it.
Whatever caused their relative lack of success here versus everywhere else, time has been kind to them. They’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as they should be. And, even 50 years later, we’re still in love with this song.
Dancing Queen
Written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Stig Anderson
Recorded by Abba
From Arrival, 1976

Not as rocking as you’d like, and those darn lyrics getting in the way, but…

I was living in Germany when they hit the airwaves. They were a big hit there. I am a fan of theirs.

I've always loved ABBA. In fact I have Alexa play ABBA every morning while I'm getting ready to start the day. Hard to believe it's been 50 years.

Dancing Queen will get a body moving, for sure! A great song.
I've always enjoyed ABBA so much.
Hope your sister in law gets along well with her surgery today, I will say a prayer for her.

Aye
Abba were something else.
From the moment they won the Eurovision song contest until now and into the future.
A real supergroup

I remember hearing them at the brand new Disco bar. Can't say I was a BIG fan, but I liked hearing some of their music.
