ER trip

Bob called me a little after 1:00 when he found his phone and figured how to use it.
He fell in the bedroom and gashed his forehead open, and his neck hurt, and his hands felt "fuzzy". He wanted to go to the ER.
So I left work and got him and he had a CT scan.
I have not been able to get him to eat much at all lately, and I am sure that he is weak and his knees just gave out on him. That is what he said. He did not trip, his knees gave out on him.
They cleaned him up, no stitches. Just put a big 2 inch square band aid on his forehead. The CT did not see anything beyond the normal wear and tear of an eighty year old neck.
So that was my afternoon. Bob went to bed at about 6:45. He had eaten a spoonful or two of yogurt and a protein bar. And a small CUTIE orange.
Not enough to keep up his strength.

Oh, my. I am so sorry. If he is too weak, can you take him to his regular doctor? No, that's not enough to eat. And now you may be scared to leave him alone until he is better. I am sure sorry.

We went for a follow up on Wednesday. I have him eating more now. In a minute I am leaving to get some information on getting some help.

One thing that scares me is a phone call about going to the ER.

ER doctor thought it was his heart not pumping hard enough. I think no eating has a lot to do with it, plus he has a UTI. Not eating and sleeping 18 or more hours daily will make you weak.

He is not hungry. Food has made him nauseous off and on for about three months. He does have a UTI and that will kill your appetite as well. I am making him eat three times a day and he is gaining strength.

Good to hear he is getting stronger Heather.
I was having to make Yvonne eat 3 or 4 times a day as well in order to gain strength so I know what it's like.

That would be scary. To just have your knees give out. I hope he eats more in the days to come.

Treating the underlying illness is helping him eat more.

No, we got a lot of labs done, and he does have a UTI. That was
Thursday. Friday morning he wrapped himself up in the covers and rolled off the bed. He and I together did finally get him up but it took a lot of time. Good news is that we are treating him with antibiotics and I am pushing him to eat more. He is up and walking more strongly and stayed up for six hours this morning.

He is ill, and so had not wanted to eat. He is doing better with me pushing him to eat and getting up and moving around more.

He likes to have me around when he eats, but he honestly has not felt well since Thanksgiving. I think we are on the mend now.

Oh! I am so, so sorry that Bob fell. I'm glad they checked him over thoroughly. He needs to eat something substantial. I wish there was something I could do.

Being so week scares him. We are treating his illness, and I just ordered a new hearing aid, and he is eating better and staying out of bed more. He was up for six hours straight this morning.

That's good to hear
"Being so week scares him" I can relate to that
cause when I woke up from my ordeal in the
hosp from being comatose for 3 mons & couldn't
move, it was scary.

The infection is likely hurting his appetite, as well as maybe some depression.

OMG, I'm so sorry this happened. I hope that he will be all right and am putting in a prayer for him. I have had one knee go out on me, and yes, then you are down for the count with nothing to support you.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about his fall. Best thing to do though was to rake him to the hospital and get him checked over. Hope he will be feeling better soon.

Right about no extra help. He fell out of bed Friday morning and that was a struggle to get him up again.
