When I go for Chinese I usually get Chicken with Cashew nuts. I love the way the dish tastes and every place has it. If I don't get that, I will get Kung Pao chicken. I have had other things but I never like them as well as those two dishes. Lately I have been wanting to try Shrimp with Walnuts though. I could try making it at home as well. What do you get when you get Chinese?

@LadyDuck It's good as long as you re not at a place that puts too many of the hot peppers in it.

Chicken with cashews is my 1st choice too. I also like General Tsos chicken and the old reliable beef & broccoli. Add an egg roll and wonton soup and im a happy camper

@MarieCoyle I do make Chinese at home sometimes, especially stir fries.

I like your choices on this...those are all good ones. If I get the General's chicken, I have to request it ''not spicy'' as it will set me on fire, but other than that, yes. Son loves beef and broccoli, we often make that at home. I can't remember when we have had Chinese in a restaurant--years ago, probably!

I have trouble with Chinese food because of my corn allergy. The dumpling and egg roll wrappers are dusted with corn starch to keep them from sticking together. The reason so many dishes are shiny is the corn starch they use to keep the sauce sticking to the food. So, I generally ask for mushu pork, if they offer other mushus I will get them except shrimp. One of the things I love about mushus is the food is all sliced really thin, and not the shrimp. I take a bite and get a mouthful of shrimp. I used to love a lot of things that weren't hot, before everybody starting making Chinese food HOT. I'm also allergic to peppers, both kinds. There was another dish they didn't put corn starch in, but after the restaurant I discovered it in I was horrified to find it with hot peppers. Then I asked, and finally I've mostly quit. The last place I ate Chinese at closed recently when the family matriarch retired. It was also the favorite Chinese place for a friend with a serious nightshade allergy because their hot and sour soup was made with black pepper. (Hint-I'm also allergic to black pepper.)
