Wait, That Wasn’t How the Day Was Supposed to Go!

Two weeks ago today I was having my colonoscopy. Today was supposed to be nice and quiet, go to lunch, stop by the pet store and pick up some more cat food for my “guests” (one of whom is pictured above…more about her later), then home for a Cubs game and a nap. Somehow, I ended up in the emergency room at the VA hospital. That was not how the day was supposed to go!!! One of the symptoms of anxiety disorder is hypochondria. They do not list hypochondria as a disorder any longer, but rather as a symptom of other disorders. Since I was getting my colon poked two weeks ago, the notion of abdominal pain and nausea was a little disquieting for me. The good news is that nothing showed — not even a brain — on the bloodwork or the urinalysis. They even did a covid test because the first time I had covid, it was gastrointestinal and not respiratory. The bad news is that I still don’t know exactly what it is…just what it’s NOT. And, honestly, it could be muscular. (I used to think that Herman’s Hermits song “A Must to Avoid” went, “She’s a muscular boy.” ) It’s hurting in an area where I frequently have pain, and I did move some furniture yesterday. As for the cat…I call her “Flat Foot.” As any of you who have been owned by cats know, there’s no such thing as “putting something up” from a cat. Well, little Flat Foot here doesn’t seem to know that she can climb my fence or gate. Instead, she crawls under it! She’s a sweetheart. The “Alley Cats” people were through here not too long ago and grabbed her and a calico friend of hers and fixed them (that’s how I know she’s a she), so she can live the life of luxury now. In the photo, she’s playing with a tennis ball! My dog used to play with them, so maybe Flat Foot thinks she’s canine. But anyway, I’m home, resting, watching a video cam show lightning in the Florida Keys. Thank y’all for your prayers and concerns.
