Did you get any great bargains lately?

I was at work, and the swap shop was on the radio. Hubby was at home, and I heard an ad he had to go check out. We got rid of our old recliners about a year ago, and I wanted to replace at least one. For $65 we got a cloth covered recliner, it has a two way massager and a heater in it. (Do not need the heater right now.) It looks and feels great. I think it is a great bargain.

That is so cool! I got a bbq for my birthday - actually my parents paid for part of it as my gift and i paid for the rest. It was on sale last week for 300 dollars off and its a really really nice bbq. I've gotten some good deals on groceries but other than my bbq (which i am so loving) nothing really really awesome recently.

That does it, I am coming for Sunday dinner. I will bring a potato salad, and cantaloupe. Two of my most favorite words are "On Sale"

That is a great bargain, good looking out. I love getting bargains too. I am hoping in a few weeks that my mom and I will get to go to the flea markets. Its about a 3 1/2 hour drive from here. I love finding bargains there, plus its fun to just look around. Its a nice day trip for us.

Thanks, you are so right. It is a treasure spending time with my mom. Tomorrow we are going to church and then heading up to the casino for the day.

Nice topic, and the cost of the chair is a bargain... I'm sure in the cold of winter which might not be all that cold who knows anymore? Well the heater might be nice if you can afford the electricity. When is a bargain not a bargain? Hmmm?

Well, you see, if I run the heater on the chair, then I can turn the furnace down low, and save on the heating bill.Right now, in our neck of the woods, electricity is costing less than natural gas, so it is a bargain. We do not heat the upstairs here, but use a mattress pad that is heated electrically and we save at least half our heating bill that way. We had a cold spring, and got snowed in in March this year. It is actually cool for July, although we have gotten close to 100 a coupl of times.

Sounds like a great bargain to me! There are a lot of yard sales around here and some of them have pretty good stuff. So good in fact that the city council is trying to figure out how to make people get permits and pay fees in order to have a yard sale. Is that ridiculous, or what? You might like the heater in a few months ;-)

The heater will be great this winter. I like the fact that this is not an oversized floppy chair but has good solid wood construction and is just the right size for me.

Wow, you have a swap show on the radio?! That's pretty cool! I haven't bought anything for months so I haven't gotten any bargains--wait, I just thought of those yummy ribs I got at the grocery! I absolutely love barbecued ribs but I never can cook them right and the prepared ones are so expensive. So when I saw some prepared ones marked down to $3.99, I grabbed 'em! Four wonderful meals later, they were gone and it was a great bargain as well as a rare treat!

I try to fill my freezer with as many grocery bargains as possible. Pantry too. I bought ten pounds of potatoes for $2.99, five pounds of the same russets were going for $3.47. We are having potato salad tomorrow.

I got a very ironic, but nice, bargain the other day. Recent construction in Guelph as totally screwed up the transportation system, meaning that the bus no longer stops outside of my apartment. I can't walk to the temporary stop, because it's too far, so I need to use a wheelchair on some days (it's up a HILL!!!) and I pay $2.50 for the special Mobility van to pick me up at my door, on other days that I want to go out. Now, for the van, I needed a doctor to say that I was physically challenged enough not to be able to wlak to the bus stop. My regular doc is on vacation, and while health care is free, it costs money for them to fill out forms. I needed a doctor to fill out the form I'd submit to the bus company. Now, there was a $20 charge for that. Being the end of the month, I did NOT have cash on me I would on Friday, but the appt was Wednesday. I thought I'd just put it on my Visa. No one said it was cash only. Well, I got there, and they don't take Visa. This AFTER the doctor had already filled out the form, and all. LOL AARRGGHH!!! The lady behind the counter was nice, and asked if I had "any cash at all." I had $5. They took that, and told me not to worry about the rest. I'd call that the best bargain I've ever received.

$20 to fill out forms!! I would say that $5 is a bargain, then. We pay for our appointments, but they fill out forms for free for us all day.

There are some places where you can get good stuff for free as well. I feel so fortunate that one of the clients had the local station on that day for me to hear about the chair.

That is a good deal! I am glad you got it. In the previous county I lived in we had one of those radio swap shops but here in the new county I am not quite sure. I will have to check into it. I do belong to the local free cycle forum for the county but I am never lucky enough to get to the deals in time. Glad you got you a good deal!

I have joined a couple of freecycle groups, but have not been able to get the things I want. You just have to find a local or nearby radio station to see if they have swap shop type programs. A lot of them do.

Oklahoma is my family stomping grounds, where are you? It has not been as bad in Guthrie, where my brother is, as it has in the past. I know further south there are problems, though.

Need to invent one that has chilled water running through channels in the chair. Actually since the heat, vibration and massage can all be turned on or off at will, it is not bad at all. We have had a relatively cool summer for our area this year, though.

If there was an air conditioned or water-cooled chair...it would be right in front of my computer! LOL Send some of that cool air south! It's been warmer that normal here in Oklahoma, and summer is only half over. Do you remember JaneIves43? She keeps letting me know how nice the summer weather is in Oregon. That's ok, I pay her back in the winter when she has 3 feet of snow on the ground.

I seem to spend most of my time at work, so that makes it difficult. I was glad my hubby was at home for this, though, as my back had been killing me.

Because i have not shoped big issues recently, so i don't think i got any great bargain lately. however i do find the food price is down a lot in the UK recently. I bought a very big water melon what was from France, it just cost me £1.74, the original price was £3.48. Compared to last year, the water melon price is down more than half price. Also today i found the butter and yogurt prices are 10% down roughly. it's a good signal. it means the food cost will down for a while. after one year of living in the UK, i learnt to shop when they are on sale. sometimes the sale can be less half price. it's not bad. i feel i'm a clever customer when i buy something on sale as well as to collect points.

We have stores where we earn points to get discounts on gasoline for our car. That store also has better reduced prices than some, although the price starts higher. It also doubles coupons if they are under a dollar, or at least rounds them up to a dollar, like 55 cents off is a dollar off. You have to be crafty to get the best grocery bargains.

I guess the greatest bargain that I got would be from a mall in my place. They had sale on anything and everything in it (though % of deduction depends on the item) me and my husband was able to find a wooden cabinet, a queen size uratex bed and a queensize bed frame, a washing machine, 2 standfan, rice cooker, double burner stove and a portable dvd player with screen and all we got to pay is 250$. its a good bargain.

I am shopping for a friend for a certain cooking dish right now. She will not shop online because of security. I told her that I would use my Pay Pal and she can pay me back. She will get the dish for less than 50%.

That sounds wonderful. I would love a recliner like that, and you really did get a fantastic price. The best bargain I got recently was a $30.00 ceramic hair straightner at Target on clearance for $8.88. My daughter had wanted a new straightner for her very curly hair, but I told her she had to wait until pay day, then I saw this one for $8.88 and she ended up getting right away, that price was just way to good to pass up and it was something we wanted. She has not used it yet so hopefully it works goo.

The best bargain that I got lately was on a Toshiba laptop. 3 G's with Word and Excel already loaded for just under $500. Got it at Walmart. When my friend learned about the deal that I got, she went down and they were already sold out the next day.
