Do you or have you made your own salad dressing? |
|
I used to make my Ranch dressing from scratch using the packaged seasoning....but since the kids left I just buy the bottled. I do however make thousand island dressing....and dressing for my cole slaw....but besides that I don't bother. Do you make your own dressings? Do you have a favorite that you like to have or find unusual?

1. ladyhope (245) | 3 months ago | I make my own ceaser dressing and it turns out way better than any I have found in the stores. I load it with lots of garlic and parmesan cheese and I always get so many compliments on it.

2. Grandmaof2 (4346) | 3 months ago | I'm not that creative because all I know how to make is coleslaw dressing using Miracle Whip, sugar and milk. I would be up for trying Thousand Island. Thank You.

3. ElusiveButterfly (9413) | 3 months ago | I only used Good Seasons dressing mixes when the kids were home. Now I buy ranch dressing that is already made. I have always wanted to make cole slaw and have attempted to do so without success. Will you share your recipe for the dressing for this?

jillhill (11586) | 3 months ago | just use some mayo...a little mustard...a little milk....and a little sugar....I like more mustard in mine....so the dressing is actually pale yellow as opposed to some others that I have seen.

4. lilybug (15247) | 3 months ago | I make mine for my coleslaw, but that is about it anymore. I have made vinaigrette's before that turned out pretty good, but it has been a while since I have done that. I have done the Hidden Valley seasoning packet to do Ranch dressing before too, but again it has been awhile.

| 5. foodieme (99) | 3 months ago | Yes I have tried it many times and I agree to what my friend here has told that homemade salad dressings taste way better than what you pick from supermarkets. And with no or less preservatives, homemade salad dressings are a lot healthier too.
One of my favorite salad dressing is Creamy Mint Dressing and, the best part of it is that this dressing can go with almost all the salads.

6. irishidid (3023) | 3 months ago | I make the ranch from the package. I don't like the bottled. To me it's too spicy. That might be my imagination though. LOL I also make my own thousand island and cole slaw dressing like you do. Except for my cole slaw, I don't like real sweet dressings and the bottled ones tend to be a bit on the sugary side.

7. sweetlady10 (2473) | 3 months ago | I don't make salad dressing from scratch; but I do make salad dressing of my own mixing lots of things together:). I like ready made mayo and ranch to use with other things like olive oil, cilantro, lemon juice, and lots of other things at different time. I mix things together depending on the salad.

|
jillhill (11586) | 3 months ago | That sounds like a great idea......since many times I like to have two kinds of dressing on a salad anyway it would be interesting to mix them up a bit or add something to it.

9. Humbug25 (4101) | 3 months ago | Hi there jillhill
I learnt a lovely salad dressing whilst I was in Switzerland and is great with cold green beans and spring onions/salad onions. It is basically 2 tbls sunflower oil, 1 tbls white wine vinegar, tbls mayonnaise, 1/4 tbls mustard. That is just roughly it but I would adjust it to my taste. It will separate if left for a while so all you have to is give it a good stir before using. It is also great with endives and red peppers!!

10. carolbee (6695) | 3 months ago | My mother use to make the best thousand island dressing using mayo and eggs. I make it a couple of times and it was just ok. I just don't "get it" in the kitchen..lol This was several years ago and nobody liked it but me. That tells me something. Think my husband ate it because he felt obligated but he was making awful faces. My favorite dressing is ranch although I would prefer to buy it at the store.
