broccoli, bacon or chocolate?

just broccoli and chocolate? good choices but i fear your diet may be somewhat lacking in protein.

nothing at all jimjams. was just suggesting that perhaps you are not being conscientious enough in your spectreing. it's an activity that requires a certain degree of dedication. for example i know of a ghostie who has done nothing for the past 50 years but walk up stairs. then walk up stairs again. then decide that the obviously thing to do next is walk up stairs.

What the hell else is he supposed to do with stairs then? Jeez, a bit of a fussy bugger ain't ya? Hopefully one day you'll stumble upon a ghost that repeatedly drives a cadillac up the stairs or something similar instead and we won't have to listen to your complaining about it anymore.

Frankly it's a pitiful discussion and I already answered my choice between chocolate, strawberries and some other unmemorable thing last week.
What I do for my friends. There's much more fun to be had in the hairy chest interest you know, but I've gone through that one.

well i dont eat pork except on a basis of im starved and have too. I once overdosed on chocolate not fun...but hardly touch it anymore. i love broccoli and all veggies. I actually taught my son that green beans were french fries and he believed it until he went to kindergarten and found out at lunch lol. Darn school cafeteria. But as it stands i am restricted diet anyway of only dry fish and chicken with veggies cooked with no sauces or butter. gall bladder issues. A nd i dont plan on removing mine thank you vvery much. Well that was a long way to say Broccoli!

sticking to edibles only....i like spices and also nuts (only the edible ones..!!). once i had an opportunity to eat homemade spicy chocolate...it was a good experience.

Corduroy is still very popular in the UK - amongst certain posh middle aged men who seem to favour it in shades of plum and mustard....

hello stvasile. iwill try and not let world war IV break out in here. well i think if your diet consists primarily of bacon you will be ricocheting off the walls with the inevitable salt high.

I know, but you don't give me much to choose from: just bacon and chocolate (as broccoli, again, does not exist for me - can I you offer a more common vegetable instead? like leek or something)...
Eating chocolate won't get me too far either as I would be bouncing off the walls from the sugar energy.

Now that's not what I exected to hear from you there Stvasile, I thought you'd go with the chocolate for sure. Trust me you wouldn't like brocoli as your mother wouldn't know how to cook it properly and would probably turn it into a kind of soup. Saying that some people do actually turn it into soup. Of course the soup would naturally need the addition of lots of herbs as brocili tends not to have much flavour, especially if boiled. It is passable if stir fried with garlic, or lightly steamed for the shortest of times, but anything more and it turns into inevitable green mush.

At least I know what cauliflower is like... I'd choose it in an instant over bacon and chocolate. I love pickled cauliflower, especially when pickled alongside red cabbage...

Indeed cauliflower is much to be preferred as much firmer to start with than brocoli. Also it has many more uses as a food. I was very suprised when my koubara actually produced a dish of cauliflower with flavour almost touching on the hot side. Apparenlty she stir fried it in olive oil first with some HERBS which oould easily be replaced with garlic and black pepper, then left the oil in and added just enough water to make it tender. I was shocked by her skill because she seemded to previously think brocoli was a kind of horta so boiled if for the requsite two hours, resulting in a plate of soggy grey slush.

I was thinking of the US. I've never been there, but in the movies, when you see children reluctant of eating their vegetables, broccoli is always there! It seem like whatever they do, the poor American children are followed by the ever-growing threaten of the broccoli...
I've never heard anyone around me to ever have eaten broccoli...

I think brocoli is a relatively new vegetable out here which is why no one has a clue how to ccok it and insists on doing it horta style.

Does your mother do the horta for about two hours until the pervasive smell reaches every corner of the house? Now that is one vegetable I loathe with a vengence, first they are all out there roaming the hills for a bit of free greenery, then they boil it for hours into a soggy clump, stick some lemon juice on the top and have the nerve to say it is the best food in the world whilst it remains about as a bitter as the most horrible bitter thing you can imagine. Every single Greek raves about it and I constanty receive strange looks as how can anyone be of sound mind and not love horta. You must have a Romanian equivalent Stvasile.

Excuse the rabbit, she's temporarily lost the plot. Now I haven't had bacon for two years now as there has only been smoked available in the shops for some reason which I don't like. I quite often fancy a simple bacon sandwich with red hot English mustard but it is not to be. I shall have to come up with some interesting discussions for my Greek life style section tomorrow.

I have Ulcerative Colitis - so I can only eat certain foods. Brocolli is one that I cant eat.

i don't mind it too much but it definitely needs seasonings. well so do nearly all vegetables. personally my favourite (and another one regarded by some as the work of the devil) is spinach. in one form or another it ends up in an awful lot of the things i cook.

Yeah, spinich is also good too, I love spinich on my pizza:-)
