Thanks, Irish. I noticed that many of these are blogs, and I really don't take anything in a blog as fact. I haven't heard many of these, but I will take your word for it that they were said. I don't agree with people lying about what people say. So I would have to agree with you on this one.

I don't believe in making up lies about anyone, whether I like them or detest them. The only allegations against Rush that I took seriously were those that I heard with my own ears, right from the horse's (Sorry, horses and horse-lovers!!) mouth! Also, I was and I'm still VERY outraged about Michael Vick as well as any professional athletes who have committed violent crimes and have not only gotten away with little or no punishment but have gotten to continue or return to making millions of dollars for playing a game!

I'm quite sure you're wrong about that Jodi. He did have an addiction to prescription drugs, and he was accused of Doctor Shopping, but he plead not guilty and the charges were dropped when he entered rehab. They were unable to prove he was doctor shopping I believe because they had no evidence, and didn't have the probable cause necessary to go through his confidential medical records. What they were trying to do is what is known as a "fishing expedition" and judges will not issue warrants for such, especially when it comes to medical records. To my knowledge he's never been convicted of any crime. He's never even been tried in a court of law.

Right, after over a year of investigating Rush, they found no evidence of any felonies at all. That didn't stop the fishing expidition to slap Limbaugh with a $30,000 bill to defray the cost of "investigating" him though.

Basically they thought they had him, but all that happened was a bunch of tyrants in the "justice" department showed their disgust with the Constitution.

I can't believe that I agree with you, but I do 1000%. I have yet to find one person who can find one positive in Rush being part of any NFL team. He is a total liability. I know that he loves the NFL, but we can only imagine what would happen when his team loses because of a close call, or a bad call.

It didn't have to do with political opinions, it had to do with charges of racism caused by the widespread reporting of quotes attributed to Limbaugh. The only problem is that none of the statements attributed to Rush were ever said by him. The racist quotes that were reported were all manufactured and posted on the internet by one particular person who appears to be the source of all of them. The MSM, doing its usual fine job, reported what they read in Wikiquotes without fact-checking. It's not a business decision, it was a hatchet job.

It might have started as a hatchet job, Rollo, but it ended up as a business decision. As I posted someplace else...I don't even care about the Rams anyway. The Miami Dolphins rock AGAIN (so far) and, aside from the Redskins, that's all I care about when it comes to football.

The business decision was a result of the bad press and media hatchet job. You can't separate them. He became a liability because of the lies in the media, that's indisputable. I don't care about any football team, but I do care about how easily a person can be destroyed by lies without any repercussions for the liars.

If he didn't say the outrageous things he's said - on video and audio tape - there wouldn't have been any controversy! I also agree 1000% with Spall!

I think it would be interesting to see him sue. I am sure that there would be alot of Rush listeners that wouldn't like the outcome of this lawsuite. It could change the acceptance policies at country clubs around the country!

Don't forget it works both ways. I just wonder how much many MSNBC can shell out in this lawsuit before it goes bankrupt.

MSNBC is clearly guilty of slander and libel. They reported lies as facts without checking any of the statements they claim Rush made. It's time someone called the media on something like this.

Debater, if Rush sues it won't be to please his listeners. It will be about publicity. Sueing the NFL will generate massive publicity, much of it free as news networks will report on it. Even MSNBC won't be able to stop talking about it just to bash him. I've seen people on the networks quoting racist statements that were unverified and if he can show that they did it maliciously, and we know they did, he WILL win.

Now if he's planning on sueing the NFL, I doubt anything would come of that. They are within their rights to make decisions on who owns teams and they didn't stop him from making a bid.

It is just the media that spread the lies that he is suing. I am still wondering how much MSNBC can afford to pay off before it goes completely under. That contract was apparently worth millions.

Taskr, I agree that he wouldn't do this for his listeners, but his listeners that go to country clubs would be effected. If you are going to change how private organizations decided who they allow in, and who they do not then it would change ALL private clubs, and organizations.

I don't see what a lawsuit would do for anyone. The NFL is probably one of the only organizations that has more money then Rush, and could afford to fight him to the death. This wouldn't help Rush because his listener base is maxed out, and it isn't like there are millions of more Americans that he doesn't have out there. It actually would help the NFL by fight someone who has very low approval ratings in general, and would show that they are fighting for their players, and against racism. This is a no win situation for both parties involved. I am sure that Rush is smart enough to see this, and I am sure his lawyers (could you imagine a republican hiring an evil lawyer?) would advise him not to. That is if any lawyer would defend him after his comments about lawyers.

But, wouldn't it be funny to see Rush hire a lawyer to file a frivolous lawsuit against the NFL? Talk about HYPOCRACY!

He isn't suing the NFL. He is suing the News organizations that made fallacious claims without bothering to check sources. The fact he got dropped as a result of those statements is his case for libel. Those News organizations no longer have the capital to pay-off a lawsuit like this. You did notice the hasty rash of lame apologies that came later.

He didn't pull out. Basically he was part of a group that was considering a bid for the Rams. He would only be a minority partner, not the sole owner of the team. The group hasn't placed a bid yet, they were shopping the idea to see what the reaction would be. Basically they determined Limbaugh, despite his added money, was a liability since the NFL didn't even want him to be a part owner of a team.
