Lately I get suspicious

When someone responds to me in a very proper and informative way here in my posts, I get suspicious. I find myself wondering if it is a person or artificial intelligence? A bot, perhaps? Not that I feel that way about my older connections, but some newer people that I have never seen before make me suspicious with their thorough and complete responses. Do you ever feel that way? Admin does not come on and tell us that they remove chatbots, they just do it when they see it, I am sure. So are you like me, a suspicious person?

I've seen some of those AI generated "comments" and report them... As you say, old friends who are a little "wooden" don't bother me but when newbies talk that way, I get suspicious.

I guess I had forgotten I can report. I was not sure if I was just being strange.

@GardenGerty Always report anything you don't think looks right. GAA will look at it and take care of the weirdness.

Yes me too. Ever since @GoAskAlice posted about ChatGPT I have been on the alert. Funnily enough a few days ago I had some responses that made me suspicious, and they were from some person I hadn't come across before, but they were not completely new to the site so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But now I wanted to look for those responses as an example, I looked through all my recent posts and can't find anything like that, so perhaps that person got picked up and deleted already, I don't know.

I escorted someone from the site this morning that became active after not doing anything for a few years and over the past 4-5 days had made over 40 responses using a program. If you are suspicious of something, please report what you see - I or my assistant will look at it and make a determination what to do.

@GoAskAlice Pretty sure I flagged that one for you the other day... I felt bad doing it because of how long they've been here (and because unlike plagiarism it's usually just something being "off" about the posts) but at least myLot has people like yourself to manually review those reports and make the determination. And unlike That Zuck Site shenanigans like that actually have consequences here. Thanks for everything you do to keep the site clean!

I usually only have time to relate with my friends here so I haven´t come across any such artificial intelligence. Thanks for the song.

@GoAskAlice wrote about it a little while ago
It is very simple. DON'T. I just removed another member that went from consistently writing discussions of three or four lines...

I ran across that for the first time earlier this week. I saw some guy with lotsa names mention that it was happening here, and that they have a really distinct style of writing so it's easy to tell what's afoot... and yeah, it stands out. What pinged for me was that the tone of the post was almost outright academic... and that was a drastic difference from how that poster used to participate here. Then they directly responded to a few comments without the AI composing it and the difference there was very stark. That was the point where I finally flagged a post of theirs for mod review. Remember the good old days when we were asked to be as detailed as possible in responses? Who among us would have thought that we'd be suspicious of folks doing just that now?

Like you said, it had an academic tone. I do not think my poster was a long time user. I think he was new. It felt like he was just trying too hard.

No. I am not. Everyone has their own style of writing. My own writing appears improved, because Apple has better auto-correct than Windows does. Plus, I can tell certain people by how they post.

Yes, people have their own styles. That is also how you detect double accounts.

Yes, suspicion is a product of the mental awareness associated with the feeling of uneasiness. (You mean like THAT?????) When someone puts a two-paragraph reply that reiterates what’s in the original post or goes way off into left field, I’m pretty sure it’s AI-generated. It’s sad, isn’t it. How hard is it for someone to say “I like that movie” or “I don’t like that book” and give a brief explanation as to why?

I know some myLotters who search before giving advice, but some comments look a lot like created by AI. The best is to Report when in doubt.

I am quite sure that whoever is on the other side of the PC screen is a real person. I don't think I have bumped into any robots yet. I do know that when I do my surveys I am always checked to make sure I am a real person.

I personally don't know much about them. Would be interested in how they work. I'd not use them to cheat anywhere I just want to know how they'd go about answering a discussion on here. Would it be worth the persons time using it? I know admin has removed some but I've always thought it a bit stupid to cheat on a site like this considering the miniscule rewards.

Since we are supposed to be paid for being social, cheating is strange. It is one thing to know how they work and another to use them in places like myLot.
