The Canadian cruise was almost called off.

So a lot of you know my dad, his wife, me, and my sister’s family are scheduled for a Canadian cruise (with a stop in Maine) in September. Which is perfect for me because with my back, I can’t travel far. Well, a new problem came up with Hudson’s food (half of his food is fed through his g tube). The airline wants it packaged one way while the cruise line wants it packaged another. It would be better to drive, but the long story short, the timeline isn’t matching up).
So they floated a couple of other cruises by me that leave out of Galveston or New Orleans instead of Boston. One was to a couple places in Mexico that I immediately nixed. I’m big on compromise, but I have no desire to go to Mexico for the tenth time, and it will always be hot and humid. The other involved The Grand Caymans, and I said I can adjust to the idea of that one a lot faster. It will still be hot, but I can adapt, and I don’t have to get off at each stop. I also told them if they were dead set on Mexico I had no problem staying home. (It truly would not bother me. I’m not just saying that, and they know it.)
When all was said and done it looks like we’re going to stick with the Canadian cruise. I do much better in that kind of weather in September.
For the first time, they actually seemed to want my opinion.

I hope they can easily resolve Hudson's special food needs.

Traveling with medical problems can be really difficult... I hope everything works out and you all enjoy the cruise.

I was actually thinking of my mom... I don't consider my medical problems a problem until I just can't see at all.

@DaddyEvil It seems as many ways there are to help make things smoother for people, there are still dozens of ways that make traveling more difficult it seems.

It sounds like a lot of thought and coordination went into making this work, and I’m really glad your voice was truly heard in the process. Traveling with specific medical needs like Hudson’s can be so complicated, and it’s impressive how you’ve navigated the logistics while still keeping your own comfort in mind. The Canadian cruise sounds like a great choice, cooler weather, beautiful views, and hopefully a more manageable experience all around. I’m glad it’s something you feel good about. Wishing you a smooth journey and some really meaningful family time when the trip finally comes together!
