Hmmm... Okay, I Give Up!

Looking at my photo, you may not realize exactly what I'm having a problem with... Please let me explain...
The new storm windows are supposed to be an extra layer of "insulation" between me, in my bedroom, and Mother Nature, outside. I've tried and tried to finish closing two of the new storm windows. One in my bedroom and one in the laundry room. Normally, new storm windows are installed already closed. All the rest of the new storm windows WERE installed closed. But two of them weren't, so I tried to close them. Now, I'm overweight and these are supposed to open and close with "fingertip" ease... Even hanging all my weight on these two windows doesn't force them to close any further.
I guess I DO have something to show the inspector when they come to check out how well all the work went with the new construction.
Photo is mine

That is a real struggle We have our kitchen door that refuses to close And the maid does it (the new maid) with all her strenght Once the rain subsides things should improve.

I'm glad you'll be able to get the door closed.
These windows are aluminum, so weather won't affect them.

The person hanging the new windows would/should have noticed two of the windows open when they installed them.
Honestly, I don't know. It's an annoyance. I asked Pretty to help me close them. (She's not strong enough to hold the slides open so the window can be raised or lowered, so I had to do that part while she hung her weight on the top of the window, trying to force it to slide down. She doesn't weigh as much as I do but she's still almost 150 lbs/68 kg. That should be enough to close a window with fingertip ease.

We didn't get to pick what was installed. OACAC put in what the grant we applied for could pay. The old storm windows were aluminum but were old and didn't seem to fit very well. There were gaps around them that let the wind whistle and the windows rattled when it thundered outside.
The inspector kept tapping the old storm windows listening to them rattle when he was doing his first inspection. These new storm windows only make a metal sound when tapped and don't rattle from me tapping on them. He also got upset when one of the storm windows wouldn't open for him.

I have no idea... I'm hoping the inspector will be able to do something Pretty and I couldn't and close both windows.

Why don’t they close? Is something stuck?

Something is binding them open and I can't figure out what's doing that. I can open them wide but can't get them to close the rest of the way.

Maybe if you have some W D-40 you can spray some on the sides
& it will help close them, that seems to make them slide better.

We tried that but thank you for the suggestion.

I don't know either. Maybe the inspector will surprise us and close those two windows without a problem. We sure won't be opening them once they're closed. We haven't opened any windows here since we moved in almost 8 years ago.

Wow there is definitely something wrong with those windows. My husbands pretty bad at that as well. The windows never close the way they should with a lot of force and frustration I get them too but since your using your entire weight and it’s not working your windows are worse then mine

Yeah... I'm wondering if something got twisted when the windows were built. If so, they'll have to be re-done and whoever installed them should have noticed and said something at the time. Everything else the construction crew did looks nice.

I'm sorry about that, I don't know what to say... I just know how it felt to be frustrated with something... like our internet goes on and off.

Thanks... I'm sorry your internet keeps going on and off. I wonder if there's some short in the wiring?

@DaddyEvil I am not sure if I should envy it. I know it sounds stupid but I am living in a place constantly having a weather of 31 - 34 degrees so I really want to experience a crazy rainstorm overseas.

@id_peace Whoa! 31C is too hot! Heat during the summer and cold during the winter is another good reason to have storm windows. They help keep the heat and cold out of the house! (It's 67F/19C here right now. That's comfortable to me!)
I love watching lightning storms as long as I'm in the house/car and can watch through a window... Rainstorms always cool temperatures down for a day or two during summer.

We have storms all year round, rainstorms, snowstorms, tornados... etc. Storm windows are plexiglass and protect the glass windows from being broken.

Believe me, I know that... The guy that inspected the house to see what work we needed raised a fuss because he couldn't get one storm window to open. (He was testing them to make sure we could escape through them if we had a fire and needed to get out of the house that way. That's the reason we got new storm windows.)

Ugh, that sounds so frustrating! It’s one of those “should be easy but isn’t” situations. Definitely good to have the inspector see it—hopefully they can get those two windows fixed quickly so the rest of your cozy insulation actually works!

Thanks. I really hope so. I'd almost rather have the old rattling storm windows back than keep fighting with these two.

Wow, that sounds super frustrating..
Maybe try a little WD-40 or silicone spray on the tracks? Sometimes they get stuck and need a bit of help
