10/14/25 - Meals

The washer repairman came yesterday. Said that the washer needs new suspension rods. That's why the basket slams against the sides of the washer, doesn't spin and shuts off. It says a lot for modern production when a new washer needs to be repaired. My previous washer lasted 20 years. Parts should be in in 4 to 5 days.
I'm still searching for a replacement for Meals on Wheels. No luck.
No word from cousin #3.
Breakfast - Protein bar
Lunch - Meals on Wheels - BBQ chicken breast, baked beans, mac and cheese, corn muffin, peaches
Dessert/Snack - Fiber brownie, 70% dark chocolate (this is for regulating blood sugar and blood pressure...also brain clarity), nuts
Dinner - Cheesy chicken rice bake, blueberries
What did you eat yesterday?

@LindaOHio - I agree, but it happened that I had to replace a new appliance because it did not work well.

They should at least work well when they are new. Mine didn't.

@LindaOHio that's sad what a lemon your washer is.

The washer didn't work right from the first day I had it. It's a good thing I bought an extended warranty on it for the future.

I think there's truth to that. Apple has been accused for years of having it built into their OS to run down batterly life right about the time new models of phones come out.
Based on my experience with laptops lately, I think they have similar things built into make keyboards stop working, charging ports not charging and so on and so forth.

@LindaOHio wow! It shouldn’t have any issues if it’s only less than a year old.

It's so frustrating that applicances, electronics, and everything that's plugged in, etc. is now made so cheaply. I hope they fix the washer, but hey, if they don't you do have the warranty.
I hope you can figure out a solution to your meals, that's essential for sure. Oh, and I think you should dump cousin number 3, enough is enough. I mean...what will you do when cousin number 2 leaves, if 3 doesn't step up? It's not right for her to ignore you.

Yes, #3 is out of the picture as far as I'm concerned. I can't count on her; and I need someone to take me to appointments, etc.

I hope I am not talking too soon, but my clothes washer is still going over ten years. I really don't want to have to buy a new one any time soon.

I had a similar experience years ago with a new washer. it started making a banging sound and the whole drum just fell off. It was out of warranty so I had to get a new washer as it was cheaper than the repair would have been. Hope they get yours fixed quickly.
Last night I made a pork tenderloin, baked sweet potatoes and broccoli. The pork was big enough for leftovers

That washer must have been noisy. Yesterday was a weird food day. Hubby wasn't feeling well. I made a squash pie and basically had a slice with sour cream for supper. (Dates to sweeten the pie and no milk in it. 2 eggs for the entire pie.)

Yes, the basket slammed against the washer; and the washer walked across the floor. I hope your hubby is feeling better.

Never a dull day over there, is there? lol
For dinner, it was a leftover night again. When I opened the fridge I had leftover braised pork, some peas, some green beans, macaroni and cheese, stir-fry, marinated pork loin, and fried fish. I was like, I'd be an idiot to cook more, especially considering my wife will be leaving out of town tomorrow for a few days. My plate was braised pork, peas, fried rice and macaroni and cheese.
Wifey made a sandwich out of the pork loin and finished off the fried rice and green beans. It was good to get some of it knocked down.

I totally agree with you about modern production. I have seen that happening with all modern things like washer, dryer, refrigerator etc. My mom's refrigerator from 1984 is still functional and she keeps it as a backup. We got a few changed since then.

@LindaOHio Hmm...that's a shame. And we have noticed that it is happening more and more in recent times with many modern products. They are not made or designed to last long.

That is ridiculous about the washer. I think if your doctor orders it, Meals on Wheels will make a specialized diet menu for you. At least they used to a long time ago.

I think they make things to last 366 days anymore…one day past the 1-year warranty.
I had a chicken taco salad for lunch. They gave me so much I had it for dinner, too! And yogurt!
