A nice thing to hear and a nice bit of news

Monday I had to take my oldest daughter to an appointment. The night before her friend stayed then night and he needed a ride home so he went on our outing with us and I dropped him off after. Afterwards my daughter told me he had been a little nervous at first but relaxed quickly. My daughter said she had told him I’m the easiest person to talk to. She said her coworker agreed with her. What a sweet thing to hear. Made me feel good seeing they view me like that. Later that night my stepson called and said he will be home for Christmas. I am so happy to hear that. Last I know the marines he is stationed with were going to be deployed. That has changed and he gets to get a two week vacation to come home for Christmas. Photo is unrelated it’s a butterfly I saw months ago.

This is a pretty butterfly. I am so glad that your daughter told you what her coworker told her. I am sure you are excited to have your stepson back home for Christmas.

@LadyDuck when the teenage years were a bit rough it throws me sometimes when she says these nice things. Then it makes me so happy. I’m glad as adult she and I have such a nice relationship. I can’t wait to spend time with him! I’m thinking of things we can do.

@shaggin The teenage years are often difficult years, I am glad she is now a responsible adult. Your step son will have so much to tell you.

@Judyev I was so worried about him being deployed I’m so glad that isn’t happening now. I know it’s inevitable but for now I’m thrilled. It will be a nice Christmas.

@snowy22315 things are pretty good for the most part. Yes I am doing Fetch still. I tend to get behind oh submitting my receipts though or I’d earn a lot more a year then I do.

@wolfgirl569 I would be so disappointed. I bought this wall sticker that is the bunny costume from The Christmas story to put on my stepsons door. I think it’ll make him laugh.

That is great to hear. The relationship between parents and their kids can be trying at times especially in their teens. How nice to have your Marine grandson home for Christmas. Nice pic.

@celticeagle yes. It could have been worse but she wasn’t anything as nasty to me as my son is. I can’t wait to see my stepson. No grandbabies yet thankfully .

That is always great to hear!! I’m always worried that the poor myLotters I meet in person will regret it about three seconds into things, but they’ve all been so wonderful when I’ve met them. So happy your stepson isn’t getting deployed right now, too!

@Fourwalls I tend to be so nervous when I first meet people that I mix up my words and feel so akward. How many myLot members have you met?

That's a lovely sulfur butterfly. In it's larval stage, it eats cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower leaves. We had to pick them off and squish the caterpillars when I was growing up. That was a nice thing to hear about yourself. I'm glad his troupe isn't being deployed and he'll get a nice vacation for Christmas.

@daddyevil I would have a hard time squashing them but I can’t see why it would be necessary. They would be pests ruining your food. I’m so happy they aren’t being deployed and my stepson can come home.

@DaddyEvil maybe your father was smarter that way though who knows what all those pesticides could have caused in the long run. December 20-January 2 or 5th I’m not sure on the return date as of yet.

@shaggin Dad didn't believe in using poisons on food plants when he had an army of kids he could send out to kill pests by hand. After dad passed away, mom had no problem buying insecticides to use in the garden. Do you know when he'll be coming home and for how long yet?

I've not been around for half a year or more, so my memory might be broken. Do you have a son, daughter, step son and a younger daughter that is probably somewhere between two and four? Are those your four kids? How old are they all now?

@MarshaMusselman yes you are correct. My oldest daughter is 21, my stepson is 19, my son is 18 and my youngest daughter is 4. My oldest is still working at the thrift store in town, my son is a senior in high school, my stepson is in the marines and my littlest is in pre-k.

@Nevena83 there was a long period where we didn’t see any and then right before fall we started seeing them. Seemed a lot later this year.
