72 days until spring. The s**w is almost all melted. It's going to stay above freezing all week. Yesterday I had an appointment with an electrician that I had used before. He gave me a very reasonable quote for the projects I want to get done. What will cost more are the lighting fixtures that I need to buy. Also, I want to get a hard-wired doorbell camera. The one I have that hubs never installed has to be charged. I don't want to deal with that. Today I have another company giving me an estimate on the electrical and plumbing and carpentry that needs to be done. There is a leak under the sink; and the wood is rotted from a past leak. I have someone coming on Friday to give me an estimate too. I used them to replace the roof and do some other projects which they overcharged me on. I will keep a tight watch on the costs this time. Cousin #2 is coming over today to get the car picked up by Carvana. She also wants me to look up her credit score; and we have several other things to do. Breakfast - Granola bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Roast beef sandwich, potato salad, pears Dessert/Snack - Nature's Bakery Brownie, 70% dark chocolate, low salt nuts Dinner - Turkey with vegan cheese sandwich, veggie poppables, Bing cherries I wasn't hungry enough to eat my big plate of New Year's dinner leftovers. Maybe today. What did you eat yesterday? Photo Credit: Pixabay

Not to be nosy but if your renting & paying for things to be done that your landowner should be doing are you getting that taken off your rent ? cause if not I'd be a bit upset cause their taking & your not getting anything back in return, that's not right.

@LindaOHio I remember our old kitchen, under the sink the cabinet was all ruined from the leaking water. It looked terrible but thankfully it didn’t ruin the entire cabinet. Now we have a new kitchen. Well, I have one.

I just hope the rotten wood doesn't extend too far.

I know that a house needs fixings all the time. I realize how much we paid every year now that I have to pay for nothing.

@LindaOHio Putting things off in a house only brings more serious problems later.

When the company was doing work on the house this last summer, replacing the wood under the kitchen sink was around $200 of their total cost. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for any of the work they did. It was all part of the weatherization grant we had. The lead guy let me see the cost estimates before they started. I ate a sausage, egg and cheese croissant for breakfast with a fiber brownie, some cheesy noodles with hamburger for lunch and we split a frozen barbecue chicken pizza for supper last night. (There is still 1/4 of the pizza left in the fridge.) Eww... vegan cheese tastes nasty!

@LindaOHio I hope it hasn't spread too far, as well. Ours was just rotted directly under the sink.

The vegan cheese isn't bad. I'm hoping the rotted wood hasn't gone too far.

It is always something to fix on the house, isn't it? My featured food yesterday was a cabbage soup with onions, potatoes and mild Italian sausage. I had some foccacia bread as well. I am eating a lot of low fat cottage cheese and Greek yogurt.

I love a grilled chicken salad. Had to call AAA to come jump the car so that cousin #2 could take a picture of the odometer. Carvana will be coming on Saturday. I will have to dip into the retirement fund for the repairs. Not happy about that; but it is what it is.

I'm glad you got some good estimates. I hope the ones you're getting will be reasonable. Your food looks good. Yesterday, I had salmon and rice for my main meal.

I’m glad you are able to get all that done. And I’m glad you’re aware they overcharged you so they can’t do it again.
