Dogs or Cats or both or none

June 14, 2026 7:50pm CST
Dogs or cats or both or of course none at all Right now we are none at all as we are away quite often and I don't think it's fair on animals and anyway, costs a fortune to put them in lodgings for two weeks at a time If we had pets again we would have cats or maybe just one cat Not having a dog I'm beyond taking it for walks Could have a hamster But the cat might eat it So what's your situation with pets Come on now let me.know.meow woof squeak

Don't have any, but we spend time around my mom's 2 dogs almost daily...so that's close enough.

Cats, they are more independent and I loved to see the kitty of my neighbors swim in their pool. People wrongly think that cats cannot swim, they can naturally swim as all felines. They do not like water, well I also do not like water.

@Ineeddentures - I bathed my cat Gevi when he came back home covered in mud one time. He surely had a fight and fell into the brook.

I knew cats could swim Ours drank water from a running tap and never showed us they didn't like water But we never tried to bath them

@LadyDuck Poor Gevi. Did he let you bathe him without a struggle?

I'm more of a dog person personally. Either way, I can't have a cat, as I am allergic.

We could love a cat but they have to be kept 'contained' and I'm not keen on litter boxes. We're away quite a bit too so no cats for us.

I get along better with dogs than cats so I have two. Every time we go on a trip, we have to scout for a hotel that allows them in. Same when we eat at restaurants. Fortunately, we were able to find one that allow them in. When we had Danie only, we were able to travel a lot. But when Yuki came, it became less and less. Danie is easier to handle than Yuki.

@Ineeddentures There are those who don't allow dogs but fortunately, most of the restaurants here in our city do.

I don’t have any pets. I don’t know how anyone can afford dogs and cats. I’ve seen people out with three or four dogs, and wondered what the cost was of feeding them and paying vets bills. I like going for a walk, but not to be dragged round by a dog and to pick up its poo. No thank you!

@ineeddentures Like you, none because of travels. Would like another dog but I’m just not taking a wee plastic bag when I take it for walks. When travelling days are over we’ll get a cat. My wife has named most of the cats in Athens.

When we stop travelling it will be a cat. Bending down to pick it up is problematic as I found out when we entertained a neighbours dog for 10 days.

My Shelby Ann passed away in October of 24 at age 15 1/2. With my health and finances, it would not be fair to bring in another for myself. I don't want to take a dog for a walk or potty at 3am with the mt lions, coyotos, bear and crazy weather. My son wants cats and a dog, so...I live with him now so I have no choice to be around them, but the responsibility will be off me for the expenses.

The cats can indeed get under the feet of people in the house And they sit on the sofa which is fine but they need to move if told to move

This is a no brainer for me. You know that I live in a domestic zoo. Technically my town could send an official out and bust me for having too many fur kids on my property.

I have nether though we had hamsters for a while when our son was with us. Now he has two cats in his apartment in London and engages a cat sitter while he is away. Obviously, it is not cheap.

Hamsters bite lol We had one It seemed to like me But it not Yvonne every time she picked it up I imagine a cat sitter on London is very expensive as everything in London is very expensive
