I have a craft sale coming up in March. I serioulsy need to make some easter cards plus a bunch of other cards as our Hallmark has closed and this is a chance for me to have a few extra sales. My stash is low as my daughter was home at Christmas and I told her that she could take what she wanted....so she took 55 cards leaving my inventory low....but that's not the problem. It's making the Easter cards! I can do other cards but I am just not feeling the Easter ones! Do you ever have a block when it comes to doing something with your crafts? This is a big opportunity for me to pick up some new customers....and I am just not getting the inspiration. How do you find it back?

Yes, this has happened to me many times. I put the craft down and come back to it later or the next day. My problem has been when I think I have a really good idea, it just doesn't get it! Good luck with your craft sale the 1st of March. You can definitely benefit from the Hallmark store closing in your area and hopefully your sales will reflect your remarkable card talent. I've seen your work firsthand and it's amazing.

Hi jillhill! Seeing that Easter is really just around the corner you'd better get going, lol! You know how the days fly by. I remember how hard it is to get motivated for a particular season or holiday when doing crafts. Right now I keep thinking "Spring"...which I am all ready for. I'm in the mood right now to buy some cut flowers and maybe an African Violet to cheer up the house. How about you do that? Spring always reminds me of Easter and flowers. Buy yourself a stuffed bunny and sit him on the couch, haha. Also, certain scents remind me of Spring and Easter too. You know, items like candles and scent burners, etc. They might just trigger the inner Easter in you. I find it fascinating sometimes just to go online and search around for crafts, just to get some inspiration. Sometimes when you see it, it gives you the motivation that you're looking for.

Well, my main issue is that I Love to Crochet, and always trying to come up with and do some New ideas and then either I end up not Happy with the way it is looking and tear out the item and either start over, or start working on something else, so never seem to have enough items done of the item I am really wanting. Or getting something done and then not having anyone interested in buying it, or complaining about the price, etc. Sometimes I think the Inspiration for doing certain things can be a fleeting moment and you need to find a way to have it come for sure.

Sometimes I just go to other crafters' blogs to see what they have been doing, Inevitably I come across an idea that reminds me of something I've been meaning to try, or a picture that makes me want to use a certain piece of fabric that I have in my stash, and then I am no longer blocked.

The main crafting that I've been doing these days is digital scrapbooking because of the fact that it doesn't require any mess at all and it is also a way that I can preserve my children's memories for them when they get older. With that said, I do suffer from a block from time to time and in order to find a new inspiration, I will either browse through some of the online galleries of digital and traditional scrapbookers or I will look and see what people have pinned in pinterest.

I have had crafters block. I am trying to learn how to make jewelry and just cannot find anything that I want to make. I know how to make earings, but I want to be able to make necklaces and bracelets. I was hoping to have things done by April so I can start selling in May. I hope once things settle down in my life I will be able to get back into it.

all the time! what i usually end up doing is checking out etsy or hitting the library for crafty type books. besides easter you could make cards for spring as well.

I am not really a crafty person, so this has not happened to me before. I do however hope that you get over your crafter's block soon! Easter...so lots of bunnies, chicks, and eggs. Maybe some religious ones too? Good luck!

I have to personalize all my receipts at work, and I got tired of the traditional "Thanks, have a nice day". So I did a search on the internet for some appropriate quotes to add to my receipts. Granted most quotes are pretty long so I didn't end up sticking with it for long. Last weekend I went to a craft store and bought a couple stamps, one says "Wishing you blue skies and sunny days" and the other says "Think happy thoughts" so now I stamp those on my reciepts with my name and done! Anyways, I was going to suggest searching for Easter quotes on the internet and perhaps you'll be inspired by one to create a card that suits it.

I think that most creative people hit the occasional block when they try to force themselves to come up with something on-demand. You can't force inspiration, but you can try to kick start it. If it's a nice day, take a walk and look for signs of spring (that may be hard, depending on what region you're in). Flip through some catalogs or websites that have spring-type stuff. Read some poetry that has a religious or spring theme. Maybe make some foods you associate with the holiday and enjoy them; the scent and flavors may spark some idea.

I had an experience with this just last week. It had been forever since I had picked up a paint brush and the class I am taking has made me want to do it. I grabbed my stuff...got ready...and then BLANK. Nothing! I had no clue what I wanted to paint. I thought that if I just went ahead and started that it would just come...well...it didn't. I ended up with what I call an abstract fly Anyway...I just started listening to music and watching things that would inspire me. It always helps to get that "feeling." You know the one? Or you could start like I did and make a bunch of abstract fly cards. Good luck and keep us updated on how it's going!

If you can create other cards, and not Easter, I suggest this has something to do with your beliefs and feelings about his particular day. If I could do crafts, Easter would inspire me the most.

if procrastinating is one way to call an art block, then i am experiencing it too. but i don't really get the total meaning of having blocks issue. there are a lot of things i want to do. so i don't rely much on a single job. that'll give some ways to think about what to do next for my current work while doing other things. you just have to enjoy some ways to take your problems out of your mind for a bit. it's very hard to start on a project without refreshing up.

A friend of mine does collage when she wants to find inspiration. She cuts a whole pile of images and colours and textures which appeal to her, then plays about with them on big sheets of paper. the collages themselves are pretty, but she finds that the act of playing about with ideas in a different medium, without trying to do something specific, generates ideas for her other crafts.

Sometimes getting totally away from it for a time is good. Other times coming from another direction helps. For me doing some research on a subject that is another facet of what I seek helps to breath new life into something that may have gotten boring.

I'm a writer, not a crafter. So when I suffer from writers block I turn to my favorite books! When my funny bone needs polishing I reread my favorite comedy writers, etc. It wouldn't hurt to a large store that carries cards and read. At night brush up on your religious beliefs, if any. By the time your done inspiration will come. Just say'n.

I'm having a block right now, in fact. LOL. I know how you feel. I make hair accessories, hand paint wooden picture frames and my latest thing are these adorable fabric bow necklaces I've made. I have an online shop at Storenvy.com: http://mjisthebomb.storenvy.com/. I'm always trying to think of new ideas but I have my moments...like now, where I can't think of something new and different to do. Monique
