Not only is he being unfair, but he is playing judge, and jury to people who commit no crime. It is not against the law to be an interracial couple, and how dare he think he is all wise and knowing to say these children will suffer. The children born to these couples would never suffer if this ignorance that still plagues this society was not here

I had no idea that this sort of thinking still existed. I'm sure that JP won't get away with it, and I sincerely hope that people in Louisiana don't think the same way as him. Maybe he is senile?

IMO ths JP is a racist from the word GO...PERIOD...The ONLY reason children from a biracial couple will have any problems whatsoever is because of IGNORANT people such as himself...I see NOTHING wrong with a person of color marrying a 'white' person. NOR do i see anything wrong with gays marrying each other......I say to each his own as long as there is LOVE in the relationship, & they are good to each other with NO abuse on either side, then let them be maried & be happy... I would also have files a discrimination suit against him, & i would definitly win the case....& have his job taken from him..Lori

His excuse that he is protecting any "children" is also laughable. Who says they will have any? How does he know that they will encounter problems (oh, yeah, people like him make _sure_ they will....). Does he imagine that any mixed race couple will split just because he says he won't marry them? They'll find someone who will marry them - or just live as if married. He's a really arrogant idiot if he thinks his refusal is stronger than their feelings for each other. Does he really imagine that anyone thinks "well, that JP says so, so it must be so"? What?

If two people love each other and want to make a commitment like marriage then they should be allowed to do so.

I think that City needs to hire another JP that has more open views to handle these types of marriages. I dont feel its right to discriminate and there needs to be other options provided so that its not a issue for mixed race couples. Its not fair to provide the service to only certain couples and not fair that this couple had to go elsewhere to get the service. Very concerning that this type of thinking would be still happening in todays times.

Hi Ravenladyji, I also agree with you on this one and see nothing wrong with interracial marriage. One of my sons, and we are of the Angle Saxon white race whose forefathers came from England, is married to a Filipino and a they have a very beautiful daughter. I think that the JP is thinking that the young people of today have the same racist attitude as his generation, and I don't believe that to be true. I'm happy that they didn't let this man stop them from getting married. Blessings.

I am a firm believer if two consenting adults love each other they should be allowed to marry if they so choose. Interracial couples or children have never bothered me, Some of the most beautiful children and people are bi-racial.

I think the JP in this case should literally take his head out of his arse. It sounds like he has more than the reasons listed for not wanting to marry interracial couples. Maybe one of his kids is dating a person of a different race ormaybe he is trying to justify why he didn't marry someone of a different race so he doesn't have to feel guilty.

The only trouble bi-racial kids and couples have are ignorant people like the JP giving them a hard time because ignorant people have a hard time wrapping their head around a concept called unconditional love.

I think he has some points with regards to the children but I can tell he is definitely sick. He's being unfair and is not really helping them. I could tell he is a hypocrite and he even betray his own words. Everyone is created equal so everyone has the right to be married, no matter what the color of your skin, just as long as you love each other.
