Thunder Alley at Rolling Thunder

Rolling Thunder is held every Memorial Day weekend, the Sunday before Memorial Day is observed, in Washington, DC. The run forms up at the Pentagon and goes over Memorial Bridge past the Vietnam Memorial. It is a run for POW/MIA (prisoner of war/missing in action) awareness. If you like bikes, come see it. One year we had over 600,000 bikes registered for the run. It seemed there were almost as many there as support and as onlookers. It is beautiful!

Free Things to Do

What are some free things to do that are in Washington DC? I'm getting ready to go on a little vacation there and I'm trying to spend as little money as physically possible.

What would you want to see if you were touring Washington DC?

Some suggestions might be Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the White House, The United States Capital. Do not let me limit it though. Tell me what you want to see.

Where to stay in DC?

From those who live in DC and those who have visited recently, where do you suggest "tourists" stay? Is it better to stay outside the beltway and drive in or stay close to the "hub" and walk...

Actually, he’ll drive by. My house! We’re hanging out on the front stoop with the neighbors, hoping for a glimpse. I take for granted all the cool motorcades I’ve seen in my home...

A somewhat tortured article from the Washington Post about how the new mayor of DC, who is himself black, hired a lot of "non-black people" - the Post's words - for key government jobs. I don't know...
