A pineapple is a tropical plant with edible fruit and is indigenous to South America. It grows as a small shrub. In the wild, the pineapples are pollinated mostly by hummingbirds...at night some are pollinated by bats.
Archeological evidence of use is found as far back as 1200-800 BC in Peru and 200 BC-700 AD in Mexico.
The Spanish introduced pineapples to Hawaii in the 1700s. Hawaiian production started to decrease in the 1970s due to competition. The Philippines remain as one of the main exporters of pineapple in the world.
Pineapples are a rich source of manganese and Vitamin C. Raw pineapple juice is a good meat tenderizer and marinade.
I like pineapple but sometimes find it too acidic for my taste. Do you like pineapples?

I do like them.. I buy them sometimes, because sometimes they are really inexpensive. I like pineapple as much or more than watermelon.

Generally speaking, I don't dislike pineapple, but I also do not prefer it, if that makes sense. Rarely will I eat it by itself, but if it's in something I will. I like to make a braised pork sometimes with the juice and pineapples and that's pretty good.

Does a bear do that in the woods? I love pineapple! I used to get a sore mouth from eating so much of it. A great juice to make is part pineapple and part grapefruit juices. You have to get just the right amount of each, and it is delicious.

@LindaOHio — canned. Never got the hang of peeling a pineapple, so I’ll pay Dole’s to do it for me.
Which reminds me: driving by the Dole plant in Honolulu was such a treat. Smelled like a pineapple upside-down cake!

I will eat a small amount of pineapple and drink a small amount of pineapple juice but I usually regret it when the pineapple or juice starts eating me back, leaving my tongue and mouth sore for several days. Once in a while, Pretty will buy the smallest can of pineapple we can find and insists I help her eat it. I usually eat a spoonful and I'm done. She eats a few bites and she's done. I throw the rest of it away.

@MarieCoyle I used to use crushed pineapple on my upside down cake. Covered more area and made the cake even more moist.

I always keep some canned, both the rings and the chunk style. I use the rings for making pineapple upside down cake, etc. and if we want ham, we usually want pineapple in some form to go with it. It's sometimes hard to get a fresh one that is good to eat the day you bring it home. They sell them so very green, it may have to sit on your counter for a few days to get ripe enough to eat!

I love pineapples and eat them all the time!
My in-laws have two pineapple plants growing in large planters on either side of their front door, and they have been harvesting and propagating new pineapples for years.

I like pineapple but sometimes it can be too tart, which I am not a fan of. I don’t remember if I’ve ever tried it on a pizza, but that’s mainly because pineapple pizza has ham in it and I don’t eat pork.
