Rod was a good dude and a good bass player. He showed me many things that I have since shared with my bass students. We also sang really tight harmonies together.
I have been on the phone this morning, talking to fellow musicians who knew Rod. I am kind of in a daze.
If I were to link a song, it might be "Carry On," by Crosby Stills Nash and Young. The repeating theme in this morning's conversations has been "we have no choice/but to carry on."
I'll attach a photo of Hair of the Dawg from a couple of weeks ago. Rod is the fella in a cowboy hat to my left (second from left in the photo).

@TheHorse That's a shame. I'd hoped he would make a full recovery. But, sounds like he put up a good fight.

@kaylachan His spirit will carry us along. We actually practiced today, and shared Rod stories.

Oh, did this statement ever hit home with me. Said so simply, but so well.

Something about shared music really ties people together. I know many people will miss Rod, but will still have the memories and the music.

You probably have great memories to look back on. Was he ill?

I'm so sorry for your loss. Is he the one that had been sick? I suppose so. I lost my BFF in 2021. It's hard.
You two look like you could have been brothers. I agree with Lenore. Great photo. Remember him laughing.
Take care.

My sincere condolences to you, your band mates and his family, pony.
It's never easy to lose a good friend, no matter how much warning we have that their time is coming.
